Find Your Smile
What makes you smile?
Is it the first glimmer of sunlight, as dawn approaches and the promise of a new day unfolds? Find your sun.
Is it the feel of the one you love, wrapped around you as you snuggle in front of your favorite television set, on your favorite couch, in your favorite home? Find the one you snuggle.
Is it the feel of accomplishment, when you finish a project, check something off your to-do list, or fearlessly face a fear as you fly in front of rejection, adversity, or threat of fate? Find you accomplishment.
Is it the joy in your child’s eye, as you witness them discovering the mysteries of life, the thrill of what - to them - has never been seen or experienced before? Find opportunities for discovery.
Is the feel of a first kiss; the promise of new love, new beginnings, and all the “what if’s” that we yearn for in this life? Find your first kiss (and, there is no reason that every kiss thereafter can’t be a “first kiss” with that same person).
Is it the laugh of a best friend as you share a drink, a memory, or as you find yourself in what, tomorrow, will inevitably be the beginning of the next epic story you tell and retell for the rest of your life? Find your friend.
Find your smile.
Life can be a challenge – it can discourage us, beat us down, and threaten to consume every fiber of our being as it seemingly seeks to put out the flame of hope that burns deep within us. It’s not easy, but nothing worth it ever is. Find reasons to smile. They are there, sometimes cocooned, masked, and even hidden as the very thing we want to escape or run away from at full speed as we imagine ourselves breaking the sound barrier to reach a place of safety, respite, and solitude. But they are there. Find your reasons.
